Llanfairfechan Town Council was formed after the re-organisation of Local Government in 1974. In comparison with the former Urban District Council the current Town Council has lesser powers and responsibilities, but still plays an important and valuable role in the day to day administration of the town and its affairs.
The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are elected annually by fellow councillors. We employ three part time members of staff; the Town Clerk who is also the Responsible Financial Officer, Admin Assistant, and an Environmental Operative who maintains the cleanliness of the town centre and the promenade.
Duties we carry out:
- We are responsible for the maintenance of the Cenotaph at Aber Road and organise the Remembrance Sunday Service with local Churches; we are the pick-up point for the collection of poppy wreaths that have been pre-ordered either through the Town Clerk or directly from The Royal British Legion in Conwy.
- Award grants to voluntary run organisations in Llanfairfechan - terms and conditions apply.
- Provide Community Skips on a monthly basis for domestic use only.
- Provide a community voice on planning applications.
- Communicate and escalate issues / concerns to Conwy Borough County Council.
- Providing leadership and a helping workforce during community-wide emergencies.
- Work with the community to create and implement the Community Action Plan.
- Environmental officer performs regular street litter pick & helps dispose of any fly tipping.
- Be the first point of contact for residents who have any queries or concerns.

We provide financial contributions to:
- Llanfairfechan Tourism and Amenities Association to help maintain the website; to also provide summer entertainment on the Promenade and print tourism information leaflets, postcards and souvenirs.
- Maintenance and installation of Christmas lighting.
- Llanfairfechan Community Hall Association towards the up-keep of the hall.
- Town Twinning Association and we also participate in exchanges and visits.
- Llanfairfechan Community Events Committee
- Llanfairfechan Community Library Group towards the sustainability of the library service.
- Managing the public toilets in Village Road.
- To encourage equality of access, Town Council pays for the registration of all pupils in Babanod and Pant y Rhedyn to the Urdd organisation. This supports the use and development of the Welsh Language.

We work in partnership with Conwy County Borough Council to:
- Managing the public toilets in Village Road
- Maintain some core footpaths and bridleways in the town.
- Contribute towards the maintenance of bus shelters.
- Contribute towards the improvements of all play areas in the town.
- Collaborate on infrastructure projects.
- Raise resident’s concerns regarding planning applications.
