Update: 28/07/25 - Changes to the North Wales coast Flood Alert

This is just a quick message to inform you of recent changes to the North Wales coast Flood Alert, which has now been split into two parts: the North East Wales coastline, and the North West Wales coastline.

While previously, the North Wales coast Flood Alert may have been issued based on tidal exceedances anywhere along the coast from Liverpool to Beaumaris, the two separate Flood Alerts will offer a more bespoke service and should mean that registered individuals receive fewer but more relevant Flood Alerts.

Properties in Llanfairfechan will now only receive the North West Wales coastline Flood Alert unless they register for the North East Wales coastline Flood Alert as well.

When the North West Wales coastline Flood Alert is issued, there will be information on our webpage over here: https://flood-warning.naturalresources.wales/Detail/101WATNW10?culture=en-GB

The quickdial code for the North West Wales coastline is: (0345 988 1188) 501040.

The North East Wales coastline is using the previous North Wales Coast Flood Alert quickdial code (501036), and can be found on the website here: https://flood-warning.naturalresources.wales/Detail/101WATNE10?culture=en-GB

There has been no change to the Llanfairfechan tidal Flood Warning this time.

Update: 07/04/25 - Recycling Waste Collection

We've been informed by Conwy County Borough Council that unfortunately, today, they have had their recycling collection vehicles break down. This has meant they have not been able to make all the scheduled collections in upper Llanfairfechan. They have said that they will try to return tomorrow, if possible. Conwy County Borough Council have apologised for inconvenience.

Please can residents effected leave out their recycling collection tomorrow (08/04/2025) as hopefully the CCBC Recycling Team will be able to return.

Update: 09/10/24 - YELLOW GRIT BINS

Conwy County Borough Council provide grit bins in urban and rural areas for local residents to use. The bins are usually at locations that have busy junctions or steep hills, but aren't on a First Priority Route gritted by our gritting fleet.

You should only use the grit in these bins on the public highway; it is not for driveways or personal use.  Spreading a small amount evenly over the road will clear most snow and ice.

See more info and map of grit bins: Grit bins - Conwy County Borough Council

Update: 25/09/24 - SEWAGE & DRAINS OVERFLOW

Residents have notified us of their concern for sewage system overflow contaminating the river and beach area. Dwr Cymru provide a live storm overflow map that residents can look at here for up-to-date information: STORM OVERFLOW MAP

Additionally, National Resource Wales (NRW) is the regulator for water/drain works in Wales. Find our more about their work here: NRW Storm Overflow Responsibilities

If you spot a storm overflow operating in dry weather you can report it to NRW on thier incident hotline on 0300 065 3000 24 hours a day. You can also report it online.
